We strive to provide you with the best approaches counseling has to offer. We work with all aspects of Counseling, including the most difficult cases. In our office we have a clinical psychologist, a marriage and family therapist, a clinical social worker and a mental health therapist. One of our providers is a Registered Play Therapist, and another of our providers is a Clinical Supervisor, meaning that they supervise and train other therapist. For more information about our staff please see below. Insurance coverage and payment. At the counseling center we have strived to make ourselves available on most insurance board as providers. This is one of the tell tale signs of a qualified doctor. With out proper experience, licensure and training insurance companies will not enroll Doctors as providers. Our office currently accepts Florida Health Care Plan, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Magellan, Horizon, Preferred Provider Coalition, Brown and Brown, many EAP or employee assistance programs and United Behavioral Health.  If you do not see your insurance company listed please call our office at (386) 423-9161 and we will be happy to see if we can obtain what is called an “out of network” provider authorization. Since insurance is always changing this list may also not be current. All of our providers also accept private pay patients. Payments for sessions are as follows: Dr Timothy Shaw – 125.00 per hour Margaret Aldridge – 95.00 per hour Patricia Blakeslee – 65.00 per hour Shane Porter – 65.00 per hour. Susan Ferguson - 65.00 per hour. What about medication? None of our providers are licensed to prescribe medications and at the present time there are no psychiatrist in New Smyrna Beach or in the Southeast Volusia area. We do however diagnose and make treatment recommendations to your primary care physician. Almost all of the medical doctors in our area are quite familiar with our doctors and work hand in hand with us to ensure that you are receiving the best care possible. If needed we will make a referral to a specialist for you. However almost all of our patients find that psychotherapy or counseling is the best solution as it helps you to take control over your situation and within a few weeks there is great improvement. Most research shows that therapy is equally as successful in treating mental health disorders. Our providers: Shane Porter- A Licensed Mental Health Counselor is also nationally recognized and board certified in psychotherapy. He specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy treating anger, anxiety, depression, traumas, and addictions. He is a Christian Counselor, and works with couples. He works with ages 10 and up. Dr Timothy Shaw – A licensed Psychologist. She specializes in rational emotive therapy, sexuality issues, PTSD and mood disorders. She treats individuals ages 12 and up. Margaret Aldridge – A Clinical Social Worker. She specializes in personality disorders, compulsions, women’s issues and life adjustments. She treats individuals ages 12 and up. Patricia Blakeslee – A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who is also a Registered Play Therapist. She specializes in working with Children, Youth and Families. She works with couples as well as divorce issues and is a Christian counselor. Ages 3 and up. Susan Ferguson Susan is a licensed Clinical Social Worker and RN. She Specializes in working with  couples, and individuals. She treats depression, anxiety, anger and stress. Scheduling Appointments. The best way to schedule an appointment is to call.
